John "the clothier" was the son of John "the smythe" and Anne ? He was baptized in 1540. He married June 23, 1560 to Margaret Hyckes (daughter of Richard Hyckes and Emma ?). These 2 records are in the Great Baddow register:- John Pease son of John was buried 5 October 1615 (this was his son) - John Pease was buried 14 January 1616. He lived during tumultuous times in England. He lived through the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI, (Bloody) Mary I, Elizabeth I (he was age 18-63), and James I. He was 71 in 1611 when the King James Bible was published. He was 72 in 1612 when the last burning of heretics in England was recorded. Age 76 when he died.
